New Product Release: eSHARE Trusted Sharing for Teams Chat

We’re excited to introduce the eSHARE Trusted Sharing for Teams Chat app, a Microsoft Teams–native collaboration capability that enables secure external file sharing directly within Teams conversations.

The app brings Trusted Sharing into everyday Teams workflows by automatically creating Trusted Shares when users add a native M365 file link to a Teams chat or meeting with external participants. Because these native links are inaccessible by the external participants in most cases, the creation of a Trusted Share allows users to share files with external parties, confident that the files will be accessible. And as with all Trusted Shares, files are shared, accessed and used in a highly controlled manner, assuring good governance and regulatory compliance.

With the app installed, Trusted Shares are automatically created, and their links are added to chat sessions when a native Microsoft file link is copied into a Teams chat that includes one or more external users. The native link is not removed from the chat, but the app provides a warning that the native link may be accessible, and, for this reason, a Trusted Share link to the same content was added to the chat.

The eSHARE Trusted Share for Teams Chat app eliminates the friction typically associated with external file sharing within Teams chats and meetings while reducing reliance on less managed sharing methods such as email attachments.
More information on the benefits of the app can be found on our website

Please contact your Customer Success Manager to discuss use cases and app licensing and deployment.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where files opened in View Mode after accepting File Access Terms of Use (ToU), even when Edit Mode was selected. Files now open in the user‑selected mode after ToU acceptance.

  • Resolved a dependency where On‑Access ABAC checks were only performed when Terms of Use (ToU) was enabled. ABAC checks are now executed regardless of ToU policy configuration.

  • Fixed an issue in the M365 Trusted Sharing App that allowed users to override blocked recipients even when the “Blocked Recipients Override” setting was disabled. Blocked recipient restrictions are now properly enforced.

  • Fixed an issue where the “Add SharePoint Sites” audit event did not include details of the added SharePoint site. Site information is now correctly captured in audit logs and reflected in the All Activity PowerBI report.

  • Fixed an issue where Office files with View, Edit and Watermark options enabled were watermarked and opened in a PDF viewer with no Edit option. Office files are now correctly opened in Office Online where Edit is enabled, with the Watermark applied only when the file is downloaded. If Edit is not an enabled option (i.e., View and Watermark only), the file will be watermarked and opened in the PDF file viewer.
