NEW FEATURES
Site Labeling for unlabeled SharePoint Sites via eShare Apps
This feature enables SharePoint site owners to assign a sensitivity label to previously unlabeled sites directly through the eShare application interface. By integrating site labeling into the eShare workflow, site owners can quickly apply the appropriate SharePoint label as part of the process to enable external sharing from SharePoint sites. This ensures that all sites meet organizational governance and compliance requirements for external file sharing, reducing risk and streamlining collaboration.
A new device policy setting, “Site owner can apply a site label within eShare with optional justification”, allows site owners to apply a site label when the lack of a label would otherwise prevent share creation. A site label selection modal is presented to site owners when they initiate sharing from an unlabeled site using the eShare M365 App or eShare Action Menu. When site members initiate sharing from an unlabeled site, they are shown a sharing request modal (existing feature), which newly generates an email to site owners requesting that they apply a site label via the eShare application interface.
Note that the labels made available to site owners are limited to those labels that are mapped to a sharing policy within the Admin Console. Also, site owners must have the eShare M365 App or the eShare Action Menu installed to apply site labels. Lastly, when configuring the new device policy setting, the administrator can choose whether to require a business justification of the site owner to apply a label.
ENHANCEMENTS
Hyperlink added to the Deny Reason text presented by eShare Govern Outlook Add-in
When a hyperlink is available in recipient denial ABAC response, typically set to point back to a SharePoint site explaining the reason for the recipient denial, this hyperlink is included in the message presented to senders when recipients are excluded from emails that are pending being sent. This enhancement improves transparency for users during recipient validation.
