This document describes the steps required to install and add the eShare SharePoint Trusted Sharing App to your organization’s M365 tenant. The application will add an ‘External Share’ action menu button available in SharePoint sites. At a high level, the steps involved are:
Install SharePoint Trusted Sharing App in SharePoint App Catalog (SharePoint Store)
Install SharePoint Trusted Sharing App in SharePoint App Catalog (Custom Package)
REQUIREMENT:
The Person performing these steps must have an administrator role assignment of SharePoint Administator role, or the Global Administator role in the destination M365 tenant.
Install SharePoint Trusted Sharing App in SharePoint App Catalog (SharePoint Store)
Access the ‘SharePoint admin center’ (https://yourdomain-admin.sharepoint.com).
Navigate to the ‘More features’ page and select the ‘Open’ button under the ‘Apps’ category.

On the ‘Apps‘ page, select the ‘SharePoint Store’ button to access Microsoft SharePoint App Store.

In the top right corner of the SharePoint Store page, select the search bar, input ‘eShare Trusted Sharing for SharePoint’ and search.
Review the returned results, select the Application which says ‘eShare Trusted Sharing for SharePoint’ and only has the SharePoint icon.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to confuse it with the dedicated SharePoint app called ‘eShare Trusted Sharing’. The screenshot below illustrates both applications and indicates which one to select.

On the application catalog page, select the ‘Add to Apps site’ button to start installing the Application.

When prompted, it is suggested to select the ‘Enable this app and add it to all sites’ option, however if its preferred to have user’s add the App themselves, select ‘Enable this app’, then click ‘Add’.

The next screen will inform that the application requires permission approval, select the ‘OK‘ button, and then browse back to the SharePoint Admin portal:

Expand the ‘Advanced‘ section, select ‘API access‘, then approve the Pending Permissions containing ‘eShare Trusted Sharing for SharePoint’ as the package. Once approved, the app install for SharePoint has been completed.

NOTE:
Please contact your eShare Customer Success Manager for the latest Commercial or Government Cloud M365 SharePoint Application Package.
Access the ‘SharePoint admin center’ (https://yourdomain-admin.sharepoint.us).
Navigate to the ‘More features’ page and select the ‘Open’ button under the ‘Apps’ category.

On the ‘Apps‘ page, select the ‘Upload’ button, then select and upload the eShare SharePoint Trusted Sharing App Custom .sspkg file from the location in which it is saved.

When prompted, it is suggested to select the ‘Enable this app and add it to all sites’ option, however if its preferred to have user’s add the App themselves, select ‘Enable this app’, then click ‘Add’.

The next screen will inform that the application requires permission approval, select the ‘OK‘ button, and then browse back to the SharePoint Admin portal:

Expand the ‘Advanced‘ section, select ‘API access‘, then approve the Pending Permissions containing ‘eShare Trusted Sharing for SharePoint’ as the package. Once approved, the app install for SharePoint has been completed.

Using the Sharepoint Trusted Sharing Application
After adding the Sharepoint Application, if the ‘Enable this app and add to all sites’ option was selected the “External Share” button appear across all SharePoint sites. If ‘Enable this app’ was selected, the user must add the app to their site before the button will appear.
If required, select the Settings Gear in the Top right corner of the page, then select ‘Add an app’.
On the app catalog page, find the ‘eShare Trusted Sharing App for SharePoint’ select the ‘Add’ button
Navigate back to the SharePoint site and open a document library that contains content to be shared.
Right click on a file / folder that should be shared, within the action menu select the ‘External Share’ button.

On the ‘Created Trusted Share’ page, select the recipients, write a short message, select a Sharing Policy, and finalize the trusted share creation by selecting ‘Share’.

After creation is complete, the page will switch to ‘Trusted Share created!’ and three options will be available to select:
Open Share - Opens the newly created Trusted Share in either the eShare M365 App or the eShare Cloud Web Portal.
Manage your Trusted Shares - Opens the listing of Trusted Shares created by the user in either the eShare M365 App or the eShare Cloud Web Portal.
Get shareable link - Copies a link to the newly created Trusted Share which can be shared via emails or direct messages to the added recipients or new recipients.
