Receive files from external users to a SharePoint Site (ShareWithMeLink)

If your organization enables Share with Me Link feature for your SharePoint site, you can leverage this to receive files from multiple users on to a SharePoint site.

Primary use case: When you need to receive documents or uploads into a SharePoint site from many external users, the Share with Me link eliminates the need to create individual trusted shares for each person. Instead, you can share this single link with all external users.

How it works:

  • You send the Share with Me link generated for a SharePoint site to external users.

  • When a user clicks the link, they are prompted to enter their name and email address.

  • After submitting the above info, a unique link is sent to the recipient’s provided email address.

  • Recipients can click on that link and access the Trusted Share created by you and upload files.

To Generate the link

Go to Cloud Provider tab and select the appropriate SharePoint site. If your eShare administrator has enabled sharing for that SharePoint site, a link icon appears next to the SharePoint site. Click the link icon to copy the link, then send it to the recipients.

  • After the recipient signs up using the link, a Trusted Share will be created under your Shared With Me section. The share name includes the recipient’s email address, making it easy to identify who the share is associated with.

  • You can also find the same uploaded files in the SharePoint site, making them easily accessible to other site members. The files are located under Documents > Outbox, where folders are organized by month and date-time.
