Govern Outlook Add-in Installation Guide

This document outlines the steps to install the eShare Govern Outlook Add-in in Microsoft 365 Commercial and Government. At a high level, various installation methods are:

REQUIREMENT:

The Person performing these steps must have an administrator role assignment of Application Administator and Exchange Administator, or Global Administator in the destination M365 tenant.

Install and Deploy the Govern Outlook Add-in - Commercial Cloud

  1. Login to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (https://admin.cloud.microsoft) as an administrative user.

  2. Select the ‘Settings‘ drop down menu, then select ‘Integrated apps‘.

  3. Within ‘Integrated apps‘, select the ‘Upload custom apps‘ to deploy the add-in.

  1. Next, select the app type ‘Office Add-in‘.

  2. Select ‘Upload manifest file (.xml) from device‘ and upload the xml manifest file provide by your eSHARE CSM, then select ‘Next‘.

NOTE:

Please contact your eShare Customer Success Manager for the latest Commercial or Government Cloud M365 Outlook Add-in .xml Manifest file.

  1. Determine the scope of who the application should be deployed to and select ‘Next‘.

  1. Accept the permissions requests, then select ‘Next‘.

  1. Review the selected settings, then select the ‘Finish deployment‘ button to publish the add-in to all users.

NOTE:

It can take up to 72 hours for the Add-in to appear in the Outlook client for users.

Install and Deploy the Govern Outlook Add-in - Government Cloud

  1. Login to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (https://portal.office365.us/adminportal) as an administrative user.

  2. Select the ‘Settings‘ drop down menu, then select ‘Add-ins‘.

  3. Within ‘Add-ins‘, select the ‘Deploy Add-in‘ to deploy the add-in.

  1. Next, select the ‘Upload custom apps‘ option.

  2. Select ‘I have the manifest file (.xml) on this device‘ and upload the xml manifest file provide by your eSHARE CSM, then select ‘Upload‘.

NOTE:

Please contact your eShare Customer Success Manager for the latest Commercial or Government Cloud M365 Outlook Add-in .xml Manifest file.

  1. Determine the scope of who the application should be deployed to.

  2. Determine the deployment method of the add-in for the scoped users, then select ‘Deploy’.

  1. Finally, confirm the add-in was successfully deployed, then select ‘Next‘.

NOTE:

It can take up to 72 hours for the Add-in to appear in the Outlook client for users.

Side Load the Govern Outlook Add-in

  1. As an end-user, navigate to https://aka.ms/olksideload which will bring you to a Add-Ins for Outlook webpage in the Outlook Web Application.

  2. Select ‘My add-ins‘, find the ‘+ Add a custom add-in‘ prompt at the bottom of the page, select ‘Add from File‘, and upload the .xml file provided by eSHARE.

  1. After uploading the Add-in .xml file, select the ‘Install’ button on the warning page.

  1. Confirm the add-in now shows under ‘Custom Addins‘.
